Title: Vive the Paris Metro
Artist: unknown
Year: ca 1960 Size: 27 1/2 x 19 1/2 inches (80 x 50 cm)
Reference Number: 1387
Description: The Métro opened on 19 July 1900, its first line being from Porte de Vincennes to Porte Maillot (not surprising it is now the line number 1). Fulgence Bienvenüe was the engineer in charge of construction, the architect Hector Guimard being responsible for the Art Nouveau entrances that still exist today. Every building is conveniently located within 500 metres of a métro station. In this whimsical poster, the metro is celebrated by both American and French cultures with a jubilant and buxom Statue of Liberty. Price: Please email us or call (843) 534-0758 for pricing

Title: Nice Beuil
Artist: Domergue
Year: 1935 Size: 39 1/2 x 24 1/4 inches (100 x 68 cm)
Reference Number: 1411
Description: The Paris-Lyon-Mediterranee railroad advertises snow and water skiing in near proximity in this double promotion for Nice and Beuil, a ski resort in the Alpes Maritimes. Domergue is famous for the scantily (or completely un-)clad girls in his Cote d'Azur posters; here he rises to the challenge of making a ski suit look as revealing as a bathing suit. The skiers are both in buff on a blue background. Price: Please email us or call (843) 534-0758 for pricing

Title: Tour Eiffel Paris
Artist: Bali
Year: ca 1980s Size: 23 3/4 x 31 1/2 inches (60 1/2 x 80 cm)
Reference Number: 1826
Description: Once the tallest structure in the world, the Eiffel Tower was built for the World Exhibition in 1889, held in celebration of the French Revolution in 1789.
The construction was only meant to last for the duration of the Exposition, but it still stands today, despite all protests from contemporary artists who feared the construction would be the advent of structures without \'individuality\' and despite the many people who feared that this huge \'object\' would not fit into the architecture of Paris.
